Bierstadt to O'Keeffe: Highlights from the Stark Museum of Art celebrates the fifth anniversary of the institutional partnership between the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Stark Museum of Art. Together the museums have organized exhibitions from the Stark Museum's extensive collections of western American art to exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Bierstadt to O'Keeffe features a selection of paintings and works on paper from two areas of strength in the collection: the works of nineteenth-century artist-explorers and adventurers of the American West and the works of early twentieth-century artists of the Taos and Santa Fe art colonies. After its extended installation in Houston, the exhibition returns to the Stark Museum to give visitors an opportunity to explore the highlights exhibition.
