DescriptionLifetime cast, foundry no. 3, small version, no more than 12 casts made of initial version between 1905-08; musky green patina common to early castings.Label TextRemington dramatically interpreted the subject of the cowboy on a bucking horse in several sculptures. The subject exemplifies the idea of human efforts to tame the wildness of nature. In this sculpture Remington portrayed the inherent dangers of the western landscape. The horse and rider both pull away from the small, but deadly, rattlesnake.
