Descriptiongray, black and white natural wool; yellow dye from sumac and brown from walnutsLabel TextIn 1981 Bertha Stevens gave weaving demonstrations at the Stark Museum of Art. She worked on this rug at the Museum and completed it at her home near Chinle, Arizona, on the Navajo reservation. She designed it with a Two Grey Hills style. The yellow color comes from a dye made from sumac and the brown comes from walnuts. Bertha Stevens was an accomplished weaver who gave demonstrations at many museums and at venues abroad, touring for the U.S. State Department.
