Label TextHiggins’ painting of a small adobe house has its title from an inscription on the back, “House in Ranchitos.” Ranchitos refers to a small community in Taos County, New Mexico. The Spanish word “ranchito” means small ranch or farm. The village name refers to the predominance of these relatively small homes on a plot of land with ranching or farming activities as support.
