Label TextTwachtman's only trip to the American West resulted in dramatic accomplishments in his art. At Yellowstone National Park's thermal pools he found an ideal subject for his impressionist style and modernist sensibility. In this painting, the artist depicted a specific site, Emerald Pool, but abstracted it into a meditation on color and light.
