DescriptionSketch of four eagles.
Label TextYoung-Hunter drew four eagles in flight as an exercise for his artistic skills. He had studied art in the academic tradition, where the training taught him to draw accurately. With this sketch, he made his lines loosely with smudges. He appeared to draw quickly. Yet he included enough details and observation to give a faithful concept of the birds. On the left, he drew two bald eagles with their characteristic white heads and large hooked beaks. On the right are two juvenile bald eagles with their still-dark heads. The artist’s widow gave this sketch to H.J. Lutcher Stark as a birthday present.
