Label TextThis painting illustrated the novel The Woman Tamer by Stanley Shaw, a story of conflict, intrigue, and romance in the frozen Canadian wilderness. Johnson’s painting was the frontispiece with the caption, “Wayne had scarcely time to shout a frantic ‘Watch out!” when Black fired.”
