Label TextThomas Moran first visited the Yellowstone region in 1871. He joined Ferdinand Hayden’s expedition. Moran made sketches of the wonders of the region. His sketches helped to convince members of Congress to set aside land to make the first national park. Moran returned to Yellowstone in 1892.
