Label TextIn Idlers, Hennings created an image of two men whiling away time in the sun-filled streets of Taos. The unpretentious scene seems casual, yet the artist planned the painting carefully. He used a man named Jesus Maria Tafoya as the model for the central figure. Against the adobe background, the old man stands, solidly supported by his staff. Yet his outstretched arm with clenched fingers adds pictorial tension.
