Label TextAnderson used his woodcarvings to inject humor into Western art. His rough-hewn style of carving matched the broad caricatures he created. In this work, he depicted a common occurrence in the Southwest. A tourist seeks a photograph of an “authentic” Indian. Yet Anderson’s depiction of the jewelry-laden sightseer raises a question.
