Label TextKane's Portrait Log identified the figure on the left as: "Tam-at-a-pa, a brother of the great Walla Walla Chief Peo-peo-mox-mox or the Yellow Serpent." The figure on the right is, according to the log "I-eh-ash, the foolish, a Champnapam, at the mouth of the Nezperce River. A small tribe, a branch of the Nezperces."
