Label Text"As we approach the place where the Walla-Walla debouche into the Columbia river, we came in sight of two extraordinary rocks projecting from a high steep cone or mount about 700 feet above the level of the river. These are called by the voyageurs the Chimney Rocks, and from their being visible from a great distance, they are very serviceable as landmarks. [This sketch] represents one of them and the cone, but, owing to the position in which I stood while taking the sketch, the other rock or chimney is not visible, being immediately in rear of the one represented."
