Label TextThe painting depicts the many visitors who came to Taos Pueblo for a feast day. It represents the Feast Day of San Geronimo observed in Taos on September 30. This and other celebrations of patron saints were brought to the pueblos by The Roman Catholic Church. The fiestas combine elements of the Catholic and Pueblo spiritual traditions. They also offer chances for visiting with family and friends and people from other Indian nations.

Lutcher Stark Foundation by Nelda C. Stark [1909-1999]; accessioned to the Stark Museum of Art | 1. Owned jointly by H.J. Lutcher Stark and Nelda C. Stark until his death at which point his ½ interest was bequeathed to the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation.
