DescriptionHorizontal oil painting depicting a group of people standing in an interior space with adobe walls and timber beams and posts.Label TextOurselves and Taos Neighbors depicts the artist’s nuclear family. In the foreground are the artist, his wife, and daughter. He includes the family pet, an important member of many families. He situates his group portrait within a typical adobe interior. Yet “Blumy” (as he was known) also brought in the larger community. Filling the space are other artists, creative thinkers, and social leaders. At the right edge, he portrayed representatives of the Taos Pueblo people and Hispanic residents. How does his painting tell the story of his home in New Mexico?
