Label TextFechin painted a vibrant portrait of American-born dancer Lola Montes, who toured this country performing neoclassical Spanish dances. She and her first husband and dance partner, Antonio Triana, settled in California.
Provenance(C. Bland Jamison, Santa Fe, New Mexico) [1]; Purchased May 22, 1959 by H.J. Lutcher Stark [1887-1965]; bequeathed September 2, 1965 to the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation; accessioned to the Stark Museum of Art | 1. C. Bland Jamison purchased 13 paintings by Fechin from an unknown owner according to a letter to H.J. Lutcher Stark dated July 31, 1958 (see file 13-99), this was one of the paintings on the list.
