Label TextThis burden basket retains its leather strap. An Apache woman could wear the basket on her back with the strap across her forehead. The buckskin strips with beads and metal danglers provide decoration. The strips sway and make sounds when worn. This basket belonged to artist John Young-Hunter, so it played another role as decoration and inspiration in his home and studio.
