Label TextLiving in Taos, Dunton had ample opportunities for hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. He used his time outdoors to study wildlife and their habits for his art. Late in his career, he stylized his representations, as in Mother Bear and Three Cubs. He abstracted the bears into a pattern of shapes and set them in a simplified, glowing forest scene.
