Label TextIwa-toke, or The Serpent, lived with her sister in a log house on the shore of Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin. Artist Paul Kane visited the two Menominee sisters and took their likenesses in 1845 as he began journeys to record and document the people and landscapes of North America.
