Label TextBaumann printed trial proofs for each color of a planned final print, such as Bound for Taos. This sheet shows the results obtained by printing the carved blue block, which is adjacent to this proof. This blue color provided a base color for the mountains. For the actual print, Baumann printed each color on a single piece of paper. Sometimes he planned to overprint one color over another, creating a new color. The final print came from printing all the blocks. He repeated the process to make multiple prints.
