DescriptionFinal print.
Label TextA beautiful stand of aspen trees inspired Baumann to make "Mountain Gold". For the woodcut print, Baumann carved blocks for each color he wanted. Black, yellow, blue, green, and gold colors made the final print. Two blocks and proofs are in the adjacent case. Baumann emigrated from Germany with his family when he was a child. He returned to Germany for artistic training, especially in woodcarving. Eventually he settled in Santa Fe, where the beauty of New Mexico infused his art.
