Label TextKane sketched the animals that he saw on his journey, such as the mountain goats that are unique to North America. He observed them on high mountain crags and only after a protracted pursuit was he able to view one up close. “In size and shape he somewhat resembled the domestic goat, but was covered with white wool resembling that of a sheep; the horns are straight, small, pointed, and Black.” Kane, Wanderings, chapter XXI.
