DescriptionThis print is from McKenney-Hall, History of the Indian Tribes of North America. SMA's bound in 3 volumes, 11.88.1.A-C. It is an earlier edition than the on this print is taken from. Greenough/ Bowen edition.Label TextLewis originally painted a portrait of Weshcubb at the Treaty of Prairie du Chien, in Wisconsin, 1825. King made a copy in oil for Thomas L. McKenney’s Indian Gallery. That image was used to make this lithograph for a publication on Indians, written by McKenney and James Hall. The authors wrote that Weshcubb was a “just and good man.”
