Label TextDawson-Watson painted western scenes with decorative stylization. He likely drew from his imagination. His titles indicate a knowledge of rodeo. Since he lived in San Antonio, Texas, he would have had opportunities to attend in the region. The title Hondo Kid and Black Dynamite evokes a classic saddle bronc clash. Western cowboys often took on nicknames with Kid, usually for a young cowboy. Black Dynamite suggests an explosive bucker.
