DescriptionCircular shaped; stemmed; flared rim; Pomona Green; engraved floral with ribbon design.Label TextEarly Steuben Glass featured color. The vase of green and white displays cased glass. The glassblower placed one glass layer upon another. This vase has a design made by etching. The process cuts into the green layer to reveal the white. The design’s name is matzu (or matsu) which means pine. The perfume bottle presents Steuben’s Gold Aurene glass.Frederick Carder perfected a method of making iridescent glass that he named Aurene. Carder combined syllables from the Latin word for gold and the Middle English word for sheen. The Pomona Green glasses and plate are from a larger glassware set used by Miriam and W.H. Stark.
