Label TextZane Grey’s novel The Shepherd of Guadaloupe revolves around two feuding families in New Mexico, the Forrests and the Lundeens. This painting illustrated the serialization in Collier’s magazine. At this point in the story Clifton Forrest watched as Virginia Lundeen, “who looked and rode like a cowgirl,” drove horses through town. His secret was that Virginia had become his wife.
