Label TextChenannoquot, Great Cloud, was a member of a Menominee delegation that visited Washington, DC, in late 1830-early 1831. These tribal leaders came to meet with the United States Government. They had concerns about the government’s relocation of other Indians on their land. At the conclusion of the visit, many of the Menominee leaders, including Chenannoquot, signed a treaty with the U.S. that permitted Indian tribes from New York State to occupy Menominee land.
