Label TextAlchĭsé was Chief of the White Mountain Apache. Curtis described him as “a well-known character, having been a scout with General Crook.” Curtis quoted Colonel Cooley, head of the scouts under Crook, who said, “A braver man than Alchĭsé never lived.”
