Label TextMelissa Cody is the fourth generation of her family to weave. She creates textiles using traditional techniques. Yet her works have a contemporary sense. Historic Diné weavings inspired the youthful Cody. Eyedazzlers attracted her attention. She responded to the brilliant colors and bold patterns of those weavings. In her art, Cody ventures further in complexity. She layers different patterns in World Traveler. Her weaving features optical effects. Cody’s use of a circle demonstrates her mastery of the medium.
