Label Text“I feel the American landscape is an endangered species. It is what we have as Americans, and I like to record it in a lyrical way, perhaps in a romantic way. My paintings are never about specific sites; they are the mood and spirit of our beautiful country,” wrote the artist. Yet he sought specific inspiration in the land. Di Giorgio took a car trip through California to create a series on the state, including this work. He painted pure landscapes with no intrusion of human activity, using dots of color to construct his images.
