Label TextRobert W. Fichter is renowned for his experimental photographic works, using different media and printing processes. With D.C. Prints on Porch, he took a more straightforward approach. He produced a panoramic view of a lush landscape. Set against the background of nature, a “sea of leaves,” is art. Solar photograms by colleague Darryl Curran hang on a line. Curran made these without a camera. He arranged objects like tools, everyday items, and leaves on a gum print paper. He exposed them to sunlight to produce the photogram. Fichter’s photograph of them asserts the continuing tradition of experimentation and the intersection of art and nature. Connect with C.M. Russell’s Friend Goodwin [Philip R. Goodwin] and E.S.
