Label TextGarrion Hull competes as a bull rider. In that rodeo event, the cowboy must remain on a bucking bull for eight seconds. He can hold on to the bull rope with only one hand. If he completes the eight seconds, he receives a score based on his riding skills and on the bull’s prowess. Don Russell’s photograph of Hull uses the black and white medium for full effect. The shades of light and dark accentuate the patterns of the cowboy’s shirt and hat for a rich texture.
