Label TextFisher created the only Federal Duck Stamp that features a decoy. The artist grew up in Delaware, drawing animals and birds in the Brandywine Valley. He studied at the Wilmington Academy of Art, where N.C. Wyeth was one of his teachers. Fisher developed a career as a commercial artist and painted the wildlife near his Pennsylvania home. To decorate his studio, he amassed a collection of old duck decoys. Another decoy collector loaned him the weathered canvasback decoy that Fisher painted for the Duck Stamp. Contest rules have been revised; now the principal subject must be living waterfowl.
