Label TextIn the late nineteenth century the animals that inhabited America's shrinking wilderness became icons of the wild. Growing up in Colorado, Proctor hunted and studied wildlife and then used his knowledge in his sculptural art. In this sculpture the artist portrayed the power, strength, and cunning of the large American cat commonly called the cougar, the mountain lion, or the panther.
