Label TextGaspard depicted Apaches going to Taos Pueblo, New Mexico. The title and the winter landscape set the time at Christmas. The artist’s bright color scheme and lively composition add vibrancy to the depiction. When Gaspard created this piece, visitors commonly came to Taos in automobiles. Showing travel by horseback and wagons, the artist placed the scene in a romantic past.
