BiographyOstermiller is renowned for his sculptural representations of wildlife. The artist was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the son of a successful taxidermist. From an early age he learned the artistic handling of animal subjects in his father's taxidermy business. Desiring to be an artist, he briefly attended a Kansas university on an art scholarship, and then studied taxidermy in Texas. He cast his first bronze in 1977 and continued to gain success through exhibitions and awards in the following years. Ostermiller's works are in the collections of the Denver Art Museum; the National Museum of Wildlife Art, Jackson, Wyoming; the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, Cody, Wyoming; and other museums, private collections and corporate collections.
