Label TextTo create a wood block print, Baumann first sketched an idea. He then planned each color separately. He sketched the color areas on paper with a graphite pencil or charcoal. Baumann traced the sketch onto wood blocks using transfer paper. The artist then carved the design by cutting out the areas of the wood block that he did not want to print. He carved a separate block for each color. Baumann then printed each color block on a piece of paper. The final print is the result of the planned mix of colors.
