Label TextOrange is one of the colors that appears in a rainbow. A rainbow is a visual occurrence of weather. It happens when sunlight enters a drop of water. The light refracts or bends, then reflects off the inside surface of the drop. The light disperses into colors, appearing in the sky as an arc. The colors are always in the same order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Yet the colors blend into each other, as in Dawson-Watson’s painting. The artist emphasized the orange in the rainbow and then repeated it with the orange of the prickly pear blossoms.
