Label TextLate in his career, Sharp specialized in still-life paintings. Arrangements of flowers gave him control of his subjects and his artistic elements. Sharp composed Zinnias and Morning-Glory as a study of warm colors against cool. The exuberant gathering of zinnias glows with the swath of warm-colored flowers. He used deep oranges, golden oranges, and pinkish oranges. Sharp placed these flowers against a cool green setting. The backdrop, tablecloth, foliage, and flower stems all feature slight variations of green. These warm and cool contrasts harmonize the arrangement.
