Label TextThe Chinook people built permanent huts of split cedar boards. Kane wrote, “Round the interior are erected sleeping places, one above another, something like the berths in a vessel, but larger.” (While Kane made this drawing, the inscription at lower left is not in Kane’s hand. The inscription wrongly names the scene as a Blackfoot Lodge, when it is a Chinook Lodge.)
