Label TextPaul Kane sketched fewer portraits of Indian women than men since he was usually interested in the chiefs of the tribes. This protrait of an unidentified young Indian woman was probably done at one of the gatherings of Indians at Suageen or Manitoulin Island. Her European style clothing and jewelry evidence of contact with the Anglo-Americans.
