Label TextMcAfee’s love of horses came from growing up on a ranch in Colorado. After studying art in California, Chicago, and New York, she and her artist-husband Elmer Turner settled in Taos, New Mexico. Author and artist Walter Foster chose The Four Seasons for his book How to Draw Horses. He wrote that when he saw the painting, “I knew at once this was to be the cover and double spread for my new horse book.” He said about McAfee’s paintings, “they have a fairyland beauty and yet a strength that makes one have a greater love for horses.”
