Label TextTo make a woodcut print, Baumann planned his design and colors. He carved a block for each color he wanted to use. He cut away the areas he did not want to print. To make his planned print of Bound for Taos, Bauman carved blocks for the colors: black, blue, purple, green, ochre, and yellow with blue. He carved this block for the green color. The proof sheet for the green color is nearby the block. Baumann printed trial proofs for each color of a planned final print, such as Bound for Taos. The final print came from printing all the blocks. He repeated the process to make multiple prints.
