DescriptionCarved wood block with two cancellation stamps. One area of the carved woodblock surface is marked with red paint or a similar red substance in the lower center.Label TextTo make a woodcut print Baumann planned his design and colors. He carved a block for each color he wanted, cutting away the areas he did not want to print. To make his planned print of Mountain Gold, Bauman used five colors: black, blue, yellow, gold, and green. He carved this block for the blue color. Beside it is the proof, or trial impression, of the blue color on paper.
