Label TextThe three prints on this wall are part of a portfolio, Kiowa Indian Art. The artists were young Kiowa art students. They studied at the University of Oklahoma. These artists developed a style of figurative painting. Medicine Dancer exemplifies the style. It features sharp outlines and flat planes of color. The artists took their subjects from Kiowa ceremonies and customs. A talented painter, Monroe Tsatoke had five prints and the cover image in the portfolio. He was knowledgeable about his culture and sang at Kiowa ceremonies.
