DescriptionPortrait of a Tesuque Indian.Label TextRolshoven’s title, The Scarlet Blanket, calls attention to the vibrant color of the blanket this Indian man wears. This portrait gives a sense of the sitter’s personality. Yet, the artist does not give the subject’s name. Rolshoven, a member of the Taos Society of Artists, painted this work more as a romantic ideal than as an accurate description of the sitter.
