Label TextCurtis photographed the dramatic Canyon de Chelly (də-SHAY). He depicted the riders as small silhouettes. “A wonderfully scenic spot is this in northeastern Arizona.” He identified its location as “in the heart of Navaho country.—one of their strongholds, in fact.” He remarked that the canyon gave evidence of former occupations. “In every niche at every side are seen the cliff-perched ruins of former villages.”
