Label TextCurtis reported on food of the Nootka. They gathered roots and berries. Elderberries and huckleberries were staples in their diet. The Nootka also picked salalberries, which are berries native to the northwestern region of United States and nearby Canada. Since they were near the ocean, they also ate clams, mussels, halibut, and whale meat.
