Label TextEdward S. Curtis photographed a Hupa mother and child for The North American Indian. In this image, the mother holds the child in an open weave basket cradle. The Hupa traditionally excel at basketry. The basket cap worn by the mother is another example of the excellent woven works made by Hupa people. Today, Hupa people are part of the Hoopa Valley tribe and other tribes.
