Label TextCurtis photographed Willow wearing a white cotton blanket. In Volume Fifteen, Curtis described seeing the typical clothing of Taos men. “A horseman approaches, swathed in a white cotton sheet, only his face visible. . . . But soon the road is dotted with figures similarly garbed. . . . One realizes that this nevertheless is the Taos type.” Willow was also known as Tony Luhan. Luhan would later marry socialite and author Mabel Dodge, who brought many creative people to Taos village.
