Label TextEdward Curtis photographed over 80 Native American tribes. His work documented a wide variety of types of homes. He traveled to Little Diomede Island, an island of Alaska in the Bering Strait. He described the homes of the people, now known as Ingalikmiut Eskimo. Curtis described their homes built of boulders from the “crumbling cliff.” “Each family had its own dwelling, large and roomy.”
